Do you know what came up for me today?
- If I have the assurance that somebody loves me—not my reputation, not my looks, not my benefits, but ME—then I can have the courage to admit how messed up I am. That somebody’s kind of love allows me to experience that I am not my problems. I can be going through X; I can say that I did do Y; I can admit that I am like Z. And thanks to that somebody, I realize….. hey, I’m still me, and me is actually ok. All that damage but… I’ve still got identity.*
- I am not my problems, but I also must remember: my problems are still mine. So much of the world’s problems would be solved if people were willing to take responsibility for their own crud, take the blame for their own wrongs. Unfortunately, blame-shifting—from me to someone or to something not me—is that dreadful human default, our apple of discord.
*Side note that’s actually the main note: This experience is made objectively real only by divine help. In an ultimate sense (which is the only sense I’m interested in for this matter), I can only be not my problems if Someone can separate my problems from me FOR GOOD. If not, then in the end (endless end, mind you), my problems are all that I’ll ever be, because I’ll never be able to surmount them—not completely. And any person’s love that helps me face some problem of mine on this earth will end up nothing more than a passing illusion—unless it be joined to the fount of permanence, Love that is Godhead.
