artist

In an important sense, artistry is resourcefulness.

To be artistic is to be resourceful; it is to see in the midst of apparent chaos divinely selected pieces of an always intended orchestrated whole. And then, it is to take the initiative to put those pieces to that purpose. The stuff of life is not random or dull. It is always specifically gifted with potentials and purposes for beauty. The artist can perceive a potential threaded through the various things around them and then will take the initiative to thread that potential together in reality. This is a fancy way of saying that the artist makes the most out of what they’ve got; they look at what they’ve been given in life and their creativity is not to ex-nihilo spin something new (only One can do that). Their creativity is that out of what is there already, they see something beautiful and can figure out a way to share it with others.

We are, all of us, meant to be that artist, each in a way that only each of us can be.
